City Manager Search Continues

City Manager Recruitment

The City of Rawlins is continuing its search for a new City Manager, Mayor Steve Nicholson said today.

“We interviewed two excellent candidates recommended to us by the executive recruitment firm, and proceeded with negotiations on an employment agreement with our top candidate,” Mayor Nicholson said.  “However, after several weeks of working on an agreement, that candidate withdrew from further consideration due to some personal family issues unrelated to Rawlins.  We then contacted the second finalist, but learned that he had already accepted a position in another community.”

Nicholson noted that a total of 18 applications had been received, but few had the kind of experience and personal attributes desired by the City Council. “We have authorized the executive recruitment firm, Prothman, to readvertise the position,” Nicholson said.  The only cost of proceeding with a new round of applications will be some advertising fees.

“The withdrawal of the top candidate late in the process was very unfortunate. It would have been a good match,” said Prothman representative Gary Milliman.  “There have been a limited amount of qualified candidates available during this COVID period.  But the pool of potential and available applicants changes with time.  We are hopeful we can attract a new group of well qualified candidates for Rawlins leaders to consider.”
