Snow Removal Plan Update

Snow Removal Routes - Image

First, we would like to say thank you to all of you who care about the snow removal plan and take the time to review the information. It is nice to live in a community where we can work together and share information.

Here is a link to a high-resolution document with the snow removal plan and each bus stop marked. In the attached map, first priority is shown as red, second as blue, and third as green. The bus stops were provided by, and the final map was reviewed by, the Transportation Division of Carbon County School District #1. As you can see, not all bus stops are covered by a snow removal top priority route. However, we do work on any of the areas shown in gray once we are caught up on the priority routes. We encourage people to submit areas where there are problems to us through our website at http://rawlinswy.org/requesttracker.aspx or by calling Public Works at 307-328-4599. There is often a snow plow driver working to take care of the high drift or other problematic areas during large storm events. If the community helps us know which areas are having issues, we can better use our time.

We are also working to install snow fences this year. Thank you to the property owners for allowing us to place fencing on their property. The areas that are currently being addressed are: 1) The old Mt. View School Property between 11th and 12th Street; 2) the old Pershing School Property off of Davis  and Washington, and 3) the corner of State St. and Pershing St.

The Urban Systems Meeting, at which they will review the snow removal plan, will be held on August 19th at noon at City Hall in the basement. The plan will then go to City Council for approval, likely at the meeting on Tuesday, September 1st at 7:30pm. Public input is welcome at both meetings. If you would like your comments to be heard at Urban Systems, please either submit them under “Snow and Ice Road Issues” on the city website http://rawlinswy.org/requesttracker.aspx or attend the meeting in person.
